It is now a legal requirement to get your dog microchipped. This change in law will be effective from the 6th April 2016

What is a microchip?

A microchip is a small electronic device inserted under the skin between the shoulder blades. It is the size of a grain of rice and carries a unique number that can be read by a scanner. The chip is registered to you and your pets details and these are recorded on the national pet register. The implantation is done within a routine appointment and is done in a matter of seconds.

Will it hurt my pet?

Microchipping is very similiar to a minor injection and will feel like a small pinch.

How is the chip registered?

Once we have checked all your details are correct we fill in the paperwork and send the information off to the microchip database. You will receive confirmation of the chip within a month.

How do i change the details?

If you need to alter the details you will need to ring the microchip database. This number will either be on the confirmation of your chip details or you can ring us to obtain it.
